TEARS OF DECAY - Promo (2006) 9 min.In Ostfriesland hat die Zeit ein anderes Maß als im Rest der vermerkelten Republik. Mitte des Jahres (also jetzt 2007) wollen TEARS OF DECAY doch wirklich ihre Kadaver wieder in ein Studio schleppen, um den Nachfolger zu „Saprophyt” auf den Weg zu bringen. Hey, das wird aber auch langsam mal Zeit. Und jetzt zack-zack! Zur Einstimmung haben TEARS OF DECAY drei Songs ins Polycarbonat geschnitzt und dem Ganzen den Namen „Promo” verpaßt. Ja, wie soll ich tun? Wer „schöne” Metal-Musik will, hat bei Mr. Deichkot und seinen Instrumentalkrachomanen nichts verloren. Es ist ganz einfach krank! Krank, häßlich und brutal. Irgendwas hat sich bei TEARS OF DECAY getan. Jedenfalls kommt mir der Lärm hier weit direkter und barbarischer vor als das, was ich noch von „Saprophyt” in den Ohren hab. Schändlicherweise bin ich nicht im Besitz der Split-EP mit Brodequin. Vielleicht war da schon einiges anders. Sei’s drum. Hier zumindest gibt’s keine schleppenden Passagen mehr, keine vertrackte Strukturen, keine akustische Gitarre. Nur straightes Grindcore/Death-Gehämmer mit herben Growls und Screams, die dir das Blut aus den Poren treiben. „Deputy of god” könnte man in dem Zusammenhang gar noch als abwechslungsreich bezeichnen. Auf hohem Niveau wird viereinhalb Minuten lang geblastet und ganz locker öfters der Rhythmus gewechselt. Das technische Ami-Gerödel der Gitarren kommt schön durch. Mit dem nächsten Song wird der Sound schlechter, was sich aber durchaus verschmerzen läßt. „Headbango ergo sum” ist ein Siebzig-Sekunden-Grindcore-Parforce-Ritt auf der Kettensäge. Der Groove findet seinen Weg und macht das Matteschütteln leicht. Und dann bin ich, yep. Abschließend „Suicide dimension”, der noch ungestümer losgeht als die anderen Tracks. Der heftige Death/Grind-Mix wird bis zum Ende durchgezogen. Nur am Anfang durchbricht ein gedrosselter Part kurz das Schädelspalten, daß man meinen könnte, der Song sei schon abgeschlossen. Aber dann geht’s erst mal richtig los. Bin mal gespannt, ob die Band dieses Geballer auf der Full-Length komplett durchhält. Wäre wünschenswert!

TEARS OF DECAY - Saprophyt (CD 2002, Cudgel Agency) 33 min.After their MCD „Redemption” (1999) this five-pack from northern Germany strike out for another version of Death/Grind. TEARS OF DECAY go the american path and mix it all with groove. The whole thing is framed by an intro and outro with strange, industrial sounding tones. But I think these are just backward recorded chimes. Furthermore there are dragging parts in almost every of the nine song. Even acoustic guitars are to hear. „Saprophyt” ain’t bass-heavy, but the other instruments are a bit in the background conspicuously. Notwithstanding this album has a thrashing (not thrashy) brutality. A big portion of that is on the shouter’s side. Even a good part of the diversity, because he’s not stupidly grunting, rather the voice is turning to a higher pitch level and screams now and then. Sometimes the song structure is confusing or just mazy („Homo homini deus est pt.2”). This song has a very Heavy, nearly Rock attitude. And it doesn’t really fit at all. „Kill-Fuck-Die” is the last (official) track before the outro, but unfortunately not a dignified finish of TEARS OF DECAY’s debut. A hollow, slushy sound and a very predictable and primitive song measured to the other ones. The songs I like most are „Soul suicide” and the title track. The album is completed by another fucking hidden track „Schuppenficker”. Why can’t that shit not be a bonus track? E basta! Before I go out for a cigarette and a slut - the CD includes two video tracks recorded at the Fuck The Commerce 3. Cool!
